As I find myself in Vanuatu, specifically in Port Vila, I reflect on the experiences I have had during my time in the last couple of weeks. From resting in Fiji for 3 weeks, sailing 500 nautical miles to Vanuatu, visiting the magnificent volcano in Tanna to exploring the beautiful island of Efate, I have been fortunate to witness the wonders of these places.

Picture: it was once in a lifetime experience to be there. To see the lava and hear the whooshing, roaring sounds of the volcano.
Picture: there was no fence. One could have just slide into the volcano if not careful! Was so exciting!
However, as my journey on the Misty nears its end, I have noticed three distinct signs that indicate the approaching conclusion of this chapter in my life.
First sign: feeling content and in control
One of the first signs that I have noticed is a growing sense of contentment and control over my life. As the days pass by, I find myself becoming more relaxed and at peace with the decisions I have made. The uncertainties and anxieties that once plagued me have gradually faded away, leaving behind a sense of tranquillity. This newfound confidence has allowed me to embrace the present moment and appreciate the experiences I have had on this voyage.

Second sign: preparing for the next chapter
Another sign that the end is near is the increasing amount of time I spend arranging the next chapter of my life. From booking flights to organizing accommodation in Australia, Bali and Malaysia and resettling in the UK, my focus has shifted towards the future. While I am still fully present in the current moment, I cannot help but feel a sense of anticipation for what lies ahead. This preparation serves as a reminder that this journey is coming to a close and a new adventure awaits.

Third sign: caring less
The final sign that indicates the approaching end is a noticeable decrease in my level of investment. I have started to care less about certain matters - things I was enthusiastic about - that would have previously consumed my attention. For instance, when I overheard Mark and the rest of the crew discussing the passage plan from Vanuatu to Mackay, I did not feel the urge to immediately join the conversation or take ownership of the task. This detachment signifies a shift in my mindset, as I begin to detach myself from the responsibilities and concerns that once held great importance.

In conclusion, my time in Vanuatu has brought forth three signs that indicate the ending of this chapter in my life. The growing sense of contentment and control, the increasing focus on preparing for the next chapter, and the diminishing level of investment in certain matters all point towards the conclusion of this journey. While I am excited about the future and the next port and sailing plan, I am also grateful for the experiences and lessons I have gained during my time on the Misty. As I bid farewell to Vanuatu, I eagerly await the adventures that await me in the next destination, Australia.
