About Lucky Sailor Girl

Lucky Sailor Girl - Beata Szoboszlai - was born in 1986, in Hungary. 'Beata' means blessed, happy which is not far from being lucky, hence why the chosen name for the blog.

She and her family lived in many different places from Spain to US, travelled a lot for winter and summer holidays. They were always on the move without really settling anywhere and this mindset will surely will come handy during her circumnavigation.

After getting her masters in Social Sciences she was leading a social enterprise (Association of Hungarian Women in Science) for seven years. Moving to London in 2015 she found herself becoming more and more passionate about transport, worked for multiple organisations and currently employed by the Transport Research Laboratory. 

From 2018 onwards she became more and more immersed into the world of sailing via all sort of courses and passages and in 2019 sailed across the "Pond" aka Atlantic Ocean. 

That's when she decided to become a circumnavigator.
